Principal Backend Engineer (M/F/D)
We are looking for a Principal Backend Engineer to join our team. Someone who has designed, built, operated and evolved distributed backend systems in production, understands how they fail, and knows how to make pragmatic technical decisions when there is no perfect solution.
You should be comfortable moving between architecture discussions and actual implementation.
Your Mission
This is a hands-on technical role. You will design and build backend systems, make architectural decisions, establish engineering standards, and help other engineers solve complex technical problems. Our platform is based on microservices and asynchronous communication with an event-driven architecture, supporting a Logistics as a Service ecosystem.

Your Day-to-Day
- Own and influence the architecture of critical backend systems across multiple domains
- Design scalable and resilient solutions using C#, .NET and microservices
- Design and evolve event-driven and asynchronous workflows
- Define service boundaries, integration approaches and communication patterns
- Make architectural decisions considering scalability, reliability, maintainability and operational complexity
- Establish and promote engineering standards, patterns and best practices across teams
- Help engineers make better technical decisions through mentoring, design reviews and code reviews
- Drive improvements in performance, observability, testing, CI/CD and production reliability
- Proactively identify technical risks and opportunities before theybecome problems
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software development experience, with significant experience building backend systems using C# and .NET
- Strong hands-on experience designing and operating microservices and distributed systems in production
- Proven experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, AWS SQS or equivalent
- Strong understanding of asynchronous systems and failure scenarios, including concepts such as: idempotency,retries, dead-letter queues, eventual consistency, transactional messaging
- Strong experience with relational databases and SQL Server; AzureSQL experience is highly valued
- Strong understanding of software architecture and design principles suchas DDD, SOLID and Clean Architecture
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, including serverless services such as Azure Functions
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD and production observability
- Experience mentoring other engineers and influencing technical decisions across teams
- Good communication skills in English
- Previous experience using AI development assistants as part of theengineering workflow
